Gulf Fritillary Butterfly
I create contemporary fiber art and paper and fabric collages. I design my fabrics with dyes, paints, rusted objects, silk screens, discharging products, etc. I use cottons, silks, linens, recycled materials and found objects. Nature is my inspiration. Louisiana is a beautiful land blessed with a rainbow of plants and animals. A ride in the country reveals ditches with dazzling white egrets standing amid beds of rare red irises. A walk could be along a path in the forest where orange flowers on a vine adorn a tree like an exquisite piece of jewelry. Inspiration is all around us. My photos are also an important part of my work. I began printing on fabric about 15 years ago. I use my photos in my fabric art and collages, but also produce photographs. I have lived in Denham Springs, Livingston Parish, Louisiana for 50 years. Its beauty never ceases to amaze me.
