Gulf Fritillary Butterfly
Fabric, needle and thread are a part of my life. I create contemporary fiber art. I design my fabrics with dyes, paints, silk screens, discharging, etc. I use cottons, silks, linens, recycled materials and found objects. Nature is my inspiration. Louisiana is a beautiful land blessed with a rainbow of plants and animals. A ride in the country reveals ditches with dazzling white egrets standing amid beds of rare “Abbeville Red” irises. A walk could be along a path in the forest where orange flowers on a vine adorn a tree like an exquisite piece of jewelry. Inspiration is all around us. I love designing the fabric and using my materials to create original art. I also use my fabric, found objects and papers to create collages. My photos are also an important part of my work.
